Vauxhall Car Leasing - Contract Hire Guide To Vauxhalls by Danny Tripp

Why are Vauxhall such a popular car to lease? Worldwide they are one of the most popular car manufacturers but unusually the company is known by different names in different markets. On the continent they are known as Opels, GMs in the US & Holden in Australia.

The company was originally founded in London in 1857 by Alex Wilson. It wasn't until 1903 that the business began to work on cars as we would know it today. Unlike many car manufacturers who were independent until more recent consolidation, Vauxhall has been owned by the American company GM since 1925, which is part of the reason many of Vauxhall's cars since have had a certain US inspiration.

Of their current models many have proved popular contract hire and car leases including the

Vectra - a large family car which is famed for its motorway performance. The Vectra was first released in 1995 replacing the popular Cavalier model. The car was converted into a successful touring car motor racing competitor and came with a variety of petrol and diesel engines. It's actually expected in 2008 when the latest version of the Vectra is released that Vauxhall will change the name to Insignia.

Tigra - a desirable small coupe which is based on the popular super mini Corsa. It was originally introduced in 1994 and has gone through a number of significant revisions over its history. Although the chassis is based on the Corsa it shares no body panels with the smaller car. After a four year absence from the range in 2004 the Tigra was re-released with a twin-top convertible roof, which reignited the ignitions of the little sporty car.

Astra - one of the longest running models available in the UK is the Astra which has been available in various form factors since 1979 with the most recent update made available in 2004. The latest version can in many more varieties than previously including a panoramic roof option and an environmentally friendly hybrid engine.

Meriva- Vauxhall's first mini-MPV was made available late 2002 and has quickly become one of the manufacturer's most popular lines and is being leased with increasing frequency. Though only offering only five sheets they are flexible in their location much like the system used in the car's older sibling the Zafira

Corsa - the supermini hatchback became available in 1993 replacing the generally unpopular Nova. The car is particularly popular with new drivers and has become a popular option with driving instructors. The most relaunch of the brand was marked with an advertising campaign featuring a number of small cushion like characters.

Signum - a longer version of the Vectra known as the Signum has been available in the UK since 2003 features an unusual boot which is technically a hatchback and features a near vertical tail gate not dis-similar to an estate.
