If you are looking to find the best deal on car stereo equipment, there are a few places that you can look. The main key here is to shop around and do not limit yourself to one specific location as that is how you get ripped off. Going to your local auto-parts store and buying the most expensive speakers you can find may be over priced. In addition, for the price you paid you very well might have been able to get better speakers for significantly less. Here are a few places to start.
Online Shopping - Try here first. You have the ability to compare prices against thousands of shoppers when you look online at large auctions such as Ebay. You can also look at prices directly from the manufacturer to see what kind of deal they are offering. At a bare minimum you should look online just as a bargaining chip when you go to those overpriced retailers.
Local Shopping - It is advised that you only shop locally when you are looking for someone else to install it for you. You are going to get a significantly worse deal, but that can be okay if you do not know how to do the installation yourself of if you are not willing to learn. Just remember that you could have saved a lot of money by doing it yourself.
Pawn Shops - You can find some decent deals at pawn shops for used equipment. Normally pawn shops will test the equipment before they sell it to you which can be an advantage as well. Just make sure that you have researched prices online first so you know what is reasonable for the equipment.
The best way to find good deals is to shop around before you make your purchase. Car stereo systems are no different.
